The Food & The Wine
Wholesome, uncomplicated and
always homemade.
Our quality home cooked food is available daily from
noon to 12:00pm to 3:00pm and from 6:00pm to 10:00pm Monday to Friday and all
day on Saturday and Sunday. The food is prepared by our head chef Simon
Dallas
to his exacting standards. Simon was trained in the Mayfair, Picadilly and
Dorchester Hotels and then became head chef at the Hurlingham Gentleman's Club,
Whites of Bayswater, the Chelsea Hotel in Knightsbridge and lately as head chef
in both Chelsea football and Twickenham rugby clubs.
Our food now has a well-earned reputation for being delicious, wholesome
and filling. We serve only good
home-made food, all with good quality fresh ingredients. The new
menu will be a seasonal menu with only the freshest and choicest of ingredients.

For those living or
working in the Wallingford - Didcot area it is nice to know that there is a
quality- eating house within easy travelling distance.
On Sundays we serve
our Sunday Special Roast Dinners which are acclaimed by many as being the best
for miles. Note that we are one of the few pubs in this area that serve food all
day
Sunday.
Our Sunday roasts are a real treat as Simon prepares all the meat himself having
trained as a butcher at the Dorchester Hotel. This allows Simon to select the choicest and most tender
cuts for your meal. Be it steak, pork or lamb be assured that the meat will be
succulent and full of flavour.
Please be aware that the menu board will vary as a result of using only seasonal
ingredients. The selection below is representative of the main courses the Crown Inn will
offer on a day to day basis. Our popularity means that it is always wise to
book in advance to ensure we can reserve you a table. If you have special
requirements for your meal then it is wise to check availability before ordering.

Here are two autumn salads that make the most
of seasonal ingredients. Our salads are warming to eat on a chilly Winters day
or the perfect complement for a hot Summer's day when a full hot meal is just
too much for your tummy. A good warm salad is all about the delicious contrast
between crisp, cool leaves, warm meat or fish and hot dressing. The juices that
are found in the pan where the meat is cooked make a warm salad really good.
